Do you ever read a scripture and realize that even though you have read it before, you missed something?
I wanted to read for a bit before I went to sleep and my Bible was already open to Psalm 89, so I started reading it again!!! And this is what I saw.
Psalm 89:9 (KJV) Thou rulest the raging of the sea: when the waves thereof arise, thou stillest them.
The raging sea!!! Wow!!!
Just those very words make me think of huge waves and high winds raging
against a small boat trying to capsize it!!!
And indeed, the sea will rage, but God and ONLY GOD can calm the sea!!!
Matthew 8:23-27 (AMP)
23 And after He got into the boat, His disciples followed Him.
24 And suddenly, behold,
there arose a violent storm on the sea, so that the boat was being covered up
by the waves; but He was sleeping.
25 And they went and awakened
Him, saying, Lord, rescue and preserve us! We are perishing!
26 And He said to them, Why
are you timid and afraid, O you of little faith? Then He got up and
rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great and wonderful calm
(a perfect peaceableness).
27 And the men were stunned
with bewildered wonder and marveled, saying, What kind of Man is this,
that even the winds and the sea obey Him!
When Jesus spoke, the sea, the winds and the storm obeyed HIM!!!
Mark 4:36-41 (CEB)
36 They left the crowd and took him in the boat just as he was. Other boats followed along.
37 Gale-force winds arose, and waves crashed against the boat so that the boat was swamped.
38 But Jesus was in the rear of the boat, sleeping on a pillow. They woke him up and said, “Teacher, don’t you care that we’re drowning?”
39 He got up and gave orders to the wind, and he said to the lake, “Silence! Be still!” The wind settled down and there was a great calm.
40 Jesus asked them, “Why are you frightened? Don’t you have faith yet?”
41 Overcome with awe, they said to each other, “Who then is this? Even the wind and the sea obey him!”
