Entering Into His Rest!!!

There are many promises in God’s Word for us!!!


God has NOT ONLY promised us PEACE, but He has promised us that we can enter into HIS REST!!! 


Hebrews 4:1 (NKJV) Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.



The CEB makes verse 1 plain by wording it this way!!!!


Hebrews 4:1 (CEB) Therefore, since the promise that we can enter into rest is still open, let’s be careful so that none of you will appear to miss it.

In other words, we can enter into God’s Rest!!!  His rest is just waiting on us!!!  We must make the decision that we will enter into HIS REST!!!  And we make that decision in FAITH!!!

 

Hebrews 4:2 (NKJV) For indeed the gospel was preached to us as well as to them; but the word which they heard did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in those who heard it.

Hebrews 4:2 (NCV) The Good News was preached to us just as it was to them. But the teaching they heard did not help them, because they heard it but did not accept it with faith.

Just as we chose to accept Christ as our Savior, we choose to believe the WORD OF GOD!!!  We choose to believe everything that THE WORD OF GOD says!!!  And we choose to have Faith in God and in His Promises!!!


Hebrews 4:3 (NKJV) For we who have believed do enter that rest, as He has said:

“So I swore in My wrath,
‘They shall not enter My rest,’”

although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.



Hebrews 4:3 (NCV) We who have believed are able to enter and have God's rest.

As God has said,
    "I was angry and made a promise,
       'They will never enter my rest.'" — Psalm 95:11
But God's work was finished from the time he made the world.


In Psalm 95, God speaks of the children of Israel and their time in the wilderness.  He speaks of that first generation who because of their unbelief died in the wilderness.


Psalm 95:7-11 (NKJV)

⁷ For He is our God, And we are the people of His pasture, And the sheep of His hand.

Today, if you will hear His voice:


⁸ “Do not harden your hearts, as in the rebellion, As in the day of trial in the wilderness,


⁹ When your fathers tested Me; They tried Me, though they saw My work.


¹⁰ For forty years I was grieved with that generation, And said, ‘It is a people who go astray in their hearts, And they do not know My ways.’


¹¹ So I swore in My wrath, ‘They shall not enter My rest.’”



God wants us to trust in HIM and know that HE is indeed Our Shepherd and that we are indeed HIS PEOPLE; THE SHEEP OF HIS PASTURE!!!



The WORD tells us that God created the world in 6 days and then HE RESTED!!!  HE SET THE EXAMPLE FOR US!!!



And He wants us to follow HIS EXAMPLE AND ENTER INTO HIS REST!!!


Hebrews 4:4 (NCV) In the Scriptures he talked about the seventh day of the week: "And on the seventh day God rested from all his works."

Hebrews 4:9-10 (NKJV)

⁹ There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.

¹⁰ For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.



But we must realize that God’s Rest is a complete rest, where we can have peace when trouble and turmoil come our way!!!



Hebrews 4:11 (NKJV) Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience.

 

We can refuse to worry or be upset!!!  WE CAN REST IN GOD AND TRUST IN HIM!!!  And know that HE WILL MAKE A WAY FOR US!!!
