A conqueror is one
who goes out to fight and wins the battle.
If you look up this word, you will find that a conqueror is someone who
defeats his opponent. He subdues, and
overcomes the enemy. He is one who
overthrows kingdoms and nations!!!
So what does it mean to be MORE THAN A CONQUEROR?
Romans 8:37 (NKJV) …we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.
Let me tell you how I remember what MORE THAN A CONQUEROR means. What comes to my mind when someone reminds me that I am more than a conqueror through Christ Jesus, is how prize fighters, you know boxers, go into a ring to fight an opponent. I know that the one who wins is the CONQUEROR.
I think that I could safely say that almost everyone has heard of legendary boxers like Joe Louis & Muhammad Ali, both Heavy Weight Champions. And I dare say that almost anyone you meet would know who I was talking about if I said, Well, one of the most famous men in the world said, “Float Like a Butterfly, Sting Like A Bee!”
However, Sugar Ray Leonard is a name that is even more familiar to me. Of course, I guess how familiar you are with any of these men would depend on your age and how much you know about boxing. Regardless, these three men are among some of the most successful prize fighters in our history, and all three of them have taken home prize winning purses.
With so many wins, we can consider these men to NOT ONLY be Winning Prize Fighters, but Legendary Boxing Champions. To become such, they had to be CONQUERORS in the boxing ring!!!
When these men took their winnings to the bank and deposited all that prize winning money, their wives became MORE THAN CONQUERORS!!! Actually, when these men defeated their opponents, each of their wives became MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!!!
The money in the bank and the pride they felt when they walked around with their prize winning husbands are just some of the benefits of being married to A CONQUEROR!!! Living in a nice house, and having nice things is another benefit of being the wife of a CONQUEROR!!!
You see the match had already been fought and the victory had already been won!!! These women didn’t have fight the fight!!! They didn’t have to go into the boxing ring to win the victory, but they enjoyed the spoils that came with the win!!!
That what makes them MORE THAN A CONQUEROR!!!
When you are MORE THAN A CONQUEROR, you don’t have to fight the battle, or go to war, you just stand or sit on the sidelines and watch while the CONQUEROR WINS THE BATTLE!!!
Actually, you don’t even have to be there to see the battle!!! You can be resting and waiting at home. You can even be taking a nap while the battle is being won!!!!
GOD FIGHTS OUR BATTLES!!! THE LORD IS THE CONQUEROR!!! HE WINS THE VICTORY FOR US!!!
HE tells us that we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS!!! And because we are MORE THAN CONQUERORS, WE REAP THE BENEFITS OF THE VICTORY!!!
Romans 8:31, 37
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
37 …in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.
In HIS WORD, GOD tells us that HE will fight our battles for us!!!
Exodus 14:14 (KJV) The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
GOD spoke to Moses and told him to lead HIS CHILDREN out of the bondage in Egypt to the Promised Land. GOD told Moses to tell the children of Israel that HE would fight for them!!! Moses told them to stand still and see THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!!!
GOD has made promises to each and every one of HIS KIDS and HE will fulfill those promises!!! If we will be faithful to listen to HIM and follow HIM, then HE will lead into OUR PROMISED LAND!!! And no one will be able to stop us!!!
Exodus 14:13-14
13 And Moses said unto the people, Fear ye not, stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will shew to you to day: for the Egyptians whom ye have seen to day, ye shall see them again no more for ever.
14 The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.
And on that day, The Children of Israel became MORE THAN CONQUERORS!!!
Exodus 14:5-9, 13-14, 18-31 (NKJV)
5 Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled…
6 So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him.
7 Also, he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them.
8 And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; and the children of Israel went out with boldness.
9 So the Egyptians pursued them…
13 And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.
14 The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”
18 …the Egyptians shall know that I am the Lord, when I have gained honor for Myself over Pharaoh, his chariots, and his horsemen.”
19 And the Angel of God, who went before the camp of Israel, moved and went behind them; and the pillar of cloud went from before them and stood behind them.
20 So it came between the camp of the Egyptians and the camp of Israel. Thus it was a cloud and darkness to the one, and it gave light by night to the other, so that the one did not come near the other all that night.
21 Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.
22 So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
23 And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.
24 Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians.
25 And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”
26 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”
27 And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.
28 Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.
29 But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.
30 So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.
31 Thus Israel saw the great work which the Lord had done in Egypt; so the people feared the Lord, and believed the Lord and His servant Moses.
In more than one place, GOD told the children of Israel to STAND STILL AND SEE THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!!! And GOD is telling us that same thing today!!!
When 3 great armies came out to fight against King Jehoshaphat and those who served him, GOD assured them that HE WOULD FIGHT FOR THEM!!!
2 Chronicles 20:13-17
13 And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their
wives, and their children.So what does it mean to be MORE THAN A CONQUEROR?

15 And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.
16 To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.
17 Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.
Upon hearing THE WORD of the LORD from the prophet, the king and all the people rejoiced and they worshipped GOD!!! That is what GOD wants us to do!!! HE wants us to rejoice and worship HIM, knowing that HE WILL STAND AND FIGHT FOR US!!!
2 Chronicles 20:18-19 (KJV)
18 And Jehoshaphat bowed his head with his face to the ground: and all Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem fell before the Lord, worshipping the Lord.
19 And the Levites, of the children of the Kohathites, and of the children of the Korhites, stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel with a loud voice on high.
That day, because King Jehoshaphat and the people trusted and obeyed GOD, they indeed saw THE SALVATION OF THE LORD!!!
2 Chronicles 20:20-21 (KJV)
20 And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the Lord your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper.
21 And when he had consulted with the people, he appointed singers unto the Lord, and that should praise the beauty of holiness, as they went out before the army, and to say, Praise the Lord; for his mercy endureth for ever.
2 Chronicles 20:22-23 (NKJV)
22 Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated.
23 For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.
2 Chronicles 20:24-25 (KJV)
24 And when Judah came toward the watch tower in the wilderness, they looked unto the multitude, and, behold, they were dead bodies fallen to the earth, and none escaped.
25 And when Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away the spoil of them, they found among them in abundance both riches with the dead bodies, and precious jewels, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away: and they were three days in gathering of the spoil, it was so much.
2 Chronicles 20:26-30 (NKJV)
26 And on the fourth day they assembled in the Valley of Berachah, for there they blessed the Lord; therefore the name of that place was called The Valley of Berachah until this day.
27 Then they returned, every man of Judah and Jerusalem, with Jehoshaphat in front of them, to go back to Jerusalem with joy, for the Lord had made them rejoice over their enemies.
28 So they came to Jerusalem, with stringed instruments and harps and trumpets, to the house of the Lord.
29 And the fear of God was on all the kingdoms of those countries when they heard that the Lord had fought against the enemies of Israel.
30 Then the realm of Jehoshaphat was quiet, for his God gave him rest all around.
You know, this is what GOD wants for us!!!
GOD wants us to walk in The Valley of Berachah (The Valley of Blessing) and HE wants us to be so richly blessed, that we are overloaded with riches and precious jewels!!!
HE wants to overload us with HIS BLESSINGS!!!
GOD WANTS TO FIGHT ALL OUR BATTLES!!!
HE WANTS TO MAKE US REJOICE OVER ALL OF OUR ENEMIES!!!
AND HE WANTS TO GIVE US REST ALL AROUND!!!
