THE LORD, HE WILL AVENGE HIS CHILDREN!!!

   
GOD always defended the children of Israel when their enemies attacked them.  As long as they depended on HIM, GOD always protected and made a way for HIS children!!!  And HE will do the same for us today because we are HIS children!!!


At one point, GOD threw great hail stones out of heaven down upon their enemies. 


Joshua 10:3-11 (KJV)

³ Wherefore Adonizedec king of Jerusalem, sent unto Hoham king of Hebron, and unto Piram king of Jarmuth, and unto Japhia king of Lachish, and unto Debir king of Eglon, saying,

⁴ Come up unto me, and help me, that we may smite Gibeon: for it hath made peace with Joshua and with the children of Israel.

⁵ Therefore the five kings of the Amorites, the king of Jerusalem, the king of Hebron, the king of Jarmuth, the king of Lachish, the king of Eglon, gathered themselves together, and went up, they and all their hosts, and encamped before Gibeon, and made war against it.

⁶ And the men of Gibeon sent unto Joshua to the camp to Gilgal, saying, Slack not thy hand from thy servants; come up to us quickly, and save us, and help us: for all the kings of the Amorites that dwell in the mountains are gathered together against us.

⁷ So Joshua ascended from Gilgal, he, and all the people of war with him, and all the mighty men of valour.

⁸ And the Lord said unto Joshua, Fear them not: for I have delivered them into thine hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee.

⁹ Joshua therefore came unto them suddenly, and went up from Gilgal all night.

¹⁰ And the Lord discomfited them before Israel, and slew them with a great slaughter at Gibeon, and chased them along the way that goeth up to Bethhoron, and smote them to Azekah, and unto Makkedah.

¹¹ And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the Lord cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.


GOD will do whatever it takes to protect and defend HIS children. 


King Jehoshaphat who ruled over Judah cried out to GOD, when great multitude came out against him and his people. 


2 Chronicles 20:2-4

² Then there came some that told Jehoshaphat, saying, There cometh a great multitude against thee from beyond the sea on this side Syria; and, behold, they be in Hazazontamar, which is Engedi.

³ And Jehoshaphat feared, and set himself to seek the Lord, and proclaimed a fast throughout all Judah.

⁴ And Judah gathered themselves together, to ask help of the Lord: even out of all the cities of Judah they came to seek the Lord.


THE LORD assured King Jehoshaphat and his people that they would NOT have to fight this great hoard of invaders.  GOD used Jahaziel, the man of GOD to reassure HIS children that HE would indeed fight for them!!!  THE LORD said, “for the battle is not yours, but God's.”   


2 Chronicles 20:13-17

¹³ And all Judah stood before the Lord, with their little ones, their wives, and their children.

¹⁴ Then upon Jahaziel the son of Zechariah, the son of Benaiah, the son of Jeiel, the son of Mattaniah, a Levite of the sons of Asaph, came the Spirit of the Lord in the midst of the congregation;

¹⁵ And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the Lord unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God's.

¹⁶ To morrow go ye down against them: behold, they come up by the cliff of Ziz; and ye shall find them at the end of the brook, before the wilderness of Jeruel.

¹⁷ Ye shall not need to fight in this battle: set yourselves, stand ye still, and see the salvation of the Lord with you, O Judah and Jerusalem: fear not, nor be dismayed; to morrow go out against them: for the Lord will be with you.


King Jehoshaphat and the people went out against these armies as THE LORD had directed them.  They began to sing PRAISES UNTO THE LORD, and as they stood still and watched, GOD confused these armies so that they began to attack and kill each other.  These armies were defeated!!!  And no man was left alive except GOD’s children!!!   


2 Chronicles 20:22-24 (NKJV)

²² Now when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushes against the people of Ammon, Moab, and Mount Seir, who had come against Judah; and they were defeated. ²³ For the people of Ammon and Moab stood up against the inhabitants of Mount Seir to utterly kill and destroy them. And when they had made an end of the inhabitants of Seir, they helped to destroy one another.²⁴ So when Judah came to a place overlooking the wilderness, they looked toward the multitude; and there were their dead bodies, fallen on the earth. No one had escaped.

It took GOD’s people 3 days after this great victory, to collect all the treasures that were left by that great multitude. 


2 Chronicles 20:25 (NKJV) When Jehoshaphat and his people came to take away their spoil, they found among them an abundance of valuables on the dead bodies, and precious jewelry, which they stripped off for themselves, more than they could carry away; and they were three days gathering the spoil because there was so much.


Time and time again, THE LORD fought for HIS kids and showed the people all around them that HE was GOD, but still some did NOT believe!!! They did NOT fear GOD!!!


When the children of Israel left Egypt, GOD told Moses that HE would harden Pharaoh’s heart and he would purse the children of Israel.  And the king of Egypt did as GOD said and he pursued the children of Israel.  When the children of Israel saw this mighty army coming, they cried out in fear to GOD!!! 


Exodus 14: 4-10 (NKJV)

⁴ Then I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, so that he will pursue them; and I will gain honor over Pharaoh and over all his army, that the Egyptians may know that I am the Lord.” And they did so.

⁵ Now it was told the king of Egypt that the people had fled, and the heart of Pharaoh and his servants was turned against the people; and they said, “Why have we done this, that we have let Israel go from serving us?”

⁶ So he made ready his chariot and took his people with him.

⁷ Also, he took six hundred choice chariots, and all the chariots of Egypt with captains over every one of them.

⁸ And the Lord hardened the heart of Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he pursued the children of Israel; and the children of Israel went out with boldness.

⁹ So the Egyptians pursued them, all the horses and chariots of Pharaoh, his horsemen and his army, and overtook them camping by the sea beside Pi Hahiroth, before Baal Zephon.

¹⁰ And when Pharaoh drew near, the children of Israel lifted their eyes, and behold, the Egyptians marched after them. So they were very afraid, and the children of Israel cried out to the Lord.


THE LORD told His children NOT to be afraid because HE was going to destroy Pharaoh and all the Egyptians that day!!!  AND HE DID!!!


Exodus 14: 13-14 (NKJV)

¹³ And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the Lord, which He will accomplish for you today. For the Egyptians whom you see today, you shall see again no more forever.

¹⁴ The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.”


GOD parted the Red Sea so that the waters stood like great walls and HE made the East wind to blow all night so that HIS children could walk across on dry land.  And when the Egyptians followed them into the Red Sea, GOD caused the wheels of their chariots to fall off and every one of the Egyptians drowned, just as GOD had told Moses they would!!!     


Exodus 14: 21-28 (NKJV)

²¹ Then Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and the Lord caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night, and made the sea into dry land, and the waters were divided.

²² So the children of Israel went into the midst of the sea on the dry ground, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

²³ And the Egyptians pursued and went after them into the midst of the sea, all Pharaoh’s horses, his chariots, and his horsemen.

²⁴ Now it came to pass, in the morning watch, that the Lord looked down upon the army of the Egyptians through the pillar of fire and cloud, and He troubled the army of the Egyptians.

²⁵ And He took off their chariot wheels, so that they drove them with difficulty; and the Egyptians said, “Let us flee from the face of Israel, for the Lord fights for them against the Egyptians.”

²⁶ Then the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand over the sea, that the waters may come back upon the Egyptians, on their chariots, and on their horsemen.”

²⁷ And Moses stretched out his hand over the sea; and when the morning appeared, the sea returned to its full depth, while the Egyptians were fleeing into it. So the Lord overthrew the Egyptians in the midst of the sea.

²⁸ Then the waters returned and covered the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that came into the sea after them. Not so much as one of them remained.


GOD had the writer of Exodus repeat how mightily HE had moved on behalf of the children of Israel that day and how HE had taken vengeance on the Egyptians!!! 


Exodus 14:29-30 (NKJV)

²⁹ But the children of Israel had walked on dry land in the midst of the sea, and the waters were a wall to them on their right hand and on their left.

³⁰ So the Lord saved Israel that day out of the hand of the Egyptians, and Israel saw the Egyptians dead on the seashore.


King David knew all too well that GOD would defend and protect him from his enemies!!!  David depended on GOD!!!  And so should we!!! 


2 Samuel 22:47-50

⁴⁷ The Lord liveth; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.

⁴⁸ It is God that avengeth me, and that bringeth down the people under me.

⁴⁹ And that bringeth me forth from mine enemies: thou also hast lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: thou hast delivered me from the violent man.

⁵⁰ Therefore I will give thanks unto thee, O Lord, among the heathen, and I will sing praises unto thy name.

GOD will ALWAYS defend and protect HIS kids!!!  HE warns us that HE will protect and avenge HIS kids when someone does them wrong!!! 


2 Thessalonians 1:6 (CEB) After all, it’s right for God to pay back the ones making trouble for you with trouble


2 Thessalonians 1:6 (NKJV) …it is a righteous thing with God to repay with tribulation those who trouble you


When you make yourself an enemy to GOD’s kids, you make GOD your enemy!!!   


Psalm 94:1-2 (NIV)

¹ The Lord is a God who avenges.
    O God who avenges, shine forth.
² Rise up, Judge of the earth;
    pay back to the proud what they deserve.




HE IS THE LORD GOD WHO AVENGES HIS CHILDREN!!!  HE WILL REPAY!!!
