When I asked God what I should write and what scripture I should use in the last post, God gave me Hebrews the 4th chapter!!! At first, I thought, “What???”
Then I realized that this passage of scripture is the key to using The WORD of GOD which is the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT!!!
God wants us to know and use HIS WORD to be able to bring PEACE TO OUR LIVES when the devil is trying to stir up a storm or overwhelm us with problems!!!
The ONLY WAY that we can do this is if we truly believe that what we say will come to pass because WE HAVE FAITH IN HIM AND IN HIS WORD!!!! Then WE CAN SPEAK HIS WORD WITH SUCH CONFIDENCE that WE CAN ENTER INTO HIS REST!!!
With ENTERING INTO GOD’S REST IN MIND, let’s look at Hebrews 4.
Hebrews 4:1 (NKJV) Therefore, since a promise remains of entering His rest, let us fear lest any of you seem to have come short of it.
Hebrews 4:1 (NCV) Now, since God has left us the promise that we may enter his rest, let us be very careful so none of you will fail to enter.
God has promised us HIS REST and HE wants us to know that HIS REST is available to each of us, as HIS CHILDREN!!! God is NOT telling us to be afraid!!! Instead HE is telling us to be watchful to make sure that we enter into HIS REST!!!
Let me ask you, why anyone would want to live stressed out or worried about what is going on in their lives??? That is NOT how God wants us to live!!! He wants us to live CALM, PEACEFUL LIVES and we can do that by learning to ENTER INTO HIS REST!!!
Hebrews 4:2 (NCV) The Good News was preached to us just as it was to them. But the teaching they heard did not help them, because they heard it but did not accept it with faith.
The same Gospel was preached to everyone, but some refused to believe, so it didn’t do them any good!!! They didn’t trust and believe in Jesus or the words that HE spoke.
Hebrews 4:3 (CEV) Only people who have faith will enter the place of rest. It is just as the Scriptures say,
“God became angry
and told the people,
‘You will never enter
my place of rest!’”
and told the people,
‘You will never enter
my place of rest!’”
God said this, even though everything has been ready from the time of creation.
Hebrews 4:3 (NCV) We who have believed are able to enter and have God's rest. As God has said,
"I was angry and made a promise,
'They will never enter my rest.'" — Psalm 95:11
But God's work was finished from the time he made the world.
GOD created the whole world and then HE RESTED!!! There is nothing left for HIM to do!!! HE created HIS REST for us, in the beginning of time. If the children of Israel had ONLY trusted God and followed HIM, they would have been able to ENTER INTO HIS REST!!! However, they refused to trust GOD completely, so in HIS anger, HE said that they would NOT be able to enter HIS REST!!!
Hebrews 4:4-5 (NCV)
4 In the Scriptures he talked about the seventh day of the week: "And on the seventh day God rested from all his works."
5 And again in the Scripture God said, "They will never enter my rest."
God said in HIS WORD, that HE FINISHED HIS WORK and HE RESTED on the 7th day. But in HIS ANGER, God told HIS CHOSEN people in the wilderness that because of their unbelief, they would NOT enter into HIS REST!!!
Hebrews 4:6 (KJV) Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:
Hebrews 4:6 (CEV) This means that the promise to enter is still good, because those who first heard about it disobeyed and did not enter.
GOD’S PROMISE OF HIS REST IS STILL GOOD FOR US TODAY, even though they (those that it was first preached to) chose NOT to believe and DID NOT ENTER IN!!!
Hebrews 4:7-8 (CJB)
7 he again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David, so long afterwards, in the text already given,
“Today, if you hear God’s voice, don’t harden your hearts.”Hebrews 4:4-5 (NCV)

Hebrews 4:7-8 (CJB)
7 he again fixes a certain day, “Today,” saying through David, so long afterwards, in the text already given,
8 For if Y’hoshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later of another “day.”
God used David to speak to us again of entering into HIS REST, saying that we should listen and trust in God today, so that we can enter into HIS REST!!! If this were NOT possible, God would NOT have spoken of it again.
Hebrews 4:9 (NKJV) There remains therefore a rest for the people of God.
GOD assures us in HIS WORD that HIS REST is still available for us!!!
Hebrews 4:10 (CJB) For the one who has entered God’s rest has also rested from his own works, as God did from his.
When WE TRUST IN GOD, WE REMAIN CALM during the storm and have PEACE in spite of what comes our way!!! Therefore, WE ARE ENTERING INTO GOD’S REST, just as GOD RESTED ON THE 7th day after HIS work was completed!!!
Hebrews 4:11 (KJV) Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.
GOD WANTS US TO MAKE SURE THAT WE ENTER HIS REST, so that we will have PEACE in our lives. HE doesn’t want us to be like those in times past, who refused to REST IN HIM because they did NOT believe and trust in HIM, but chose instead to worry, mumble, grumble and complain!!!
Hebrews 4:12 (NKJV) For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
JESUS IS THE WORD OF GOD and HE IS ALIVE TODAY!!! And HIS WORD IS POWERFUL AND MIGHTY. HE sees and knows our hearts. HE knows the thoughts we think and what we do whether on purpose or accidentally!!!
Hebrews 4:13 (NCV) Nothing in all the world can be hidden from God. Everything is clear and lies open before him, and to him we must explain the way we have lived.
Nothing is hidden from GOD!!! HE sees and knows everything!!! And we must give account for what we have spent our lives doing!!!
Hebrews 4:14 (NKJV) Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession.
Hebrews 4:14 (NCV) Since we have a great high priest, Jesus the Son of God, who has gone into heaven, let us hold on to the faith we have.
Jesus through HIS SACRIFICE made a way for us and is now in Heaven with the FATHER, so we should continue to have FAITH in HIM!!!
Hebrews 4:15-16 (NKJV)
15 For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.
16 Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
JESUS, our HIGH PRIEST, came to earth as a man, so that we could be saved. He was tempted in ALL things that a man could be tempted in and so HE understands exactly how we feel!!! However, HE chose NOT to commit sin!!! In HIS mercy, HE has forgiven us, and because HE has given us HIS grace, we have confidence that when we ask HIM for help, HE WILL HELP US!!
Jesus through HIS SACRIFICE made a way for us and is now in Heaven with the FATHER, so we should continue to have FAITH in HIM!!!

WILL YOU CHOOSE TO ENTER INTO THE REST THAT GOD HAS PROVIDED FOR YOU?
