PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT

In my last post, I did not talk about a few things that Ephesians 6.18 says.




So, tonight I want to address one of those things!!!!




Ephesians 6:18 (KJV) Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints

This verse says to pray always…  “in the Spirit”




But what does that mean???




Praying in THE SPIRIT means that we pray in tongues to God with the HELP of the Holy Spirit because without HIS HELP, we have no idea what we should pray!!!




Romans 8:26-27 (CEV)

²⁶ In certain ways we are weak, but the Spirit is here to help us. For example, when we don’t know what to pray for, the Spirit prays for us in ways that cannot be put into words.

²⁷ All of our thoughts are known to God. He can understand what is in the mind of the Spirit, as the Spirit prays for God’s people.

Did you notice that verse 27 says, “the Spirit prays for God’s people”?




As most Prayer Warriors know, many times God will have us pray for people that we do NOT know!!! 




We may be praying in THE SPIRIT for people in India, or China, or even in another part of the USA!!! 




Romans 8:26-27 (AMP)

²⁶ So too the [Holy] Spirit comes to our aid and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.

²⁷ And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will.

We may be praying for folks in some country that we have never heard of!!! 




But God knows and HE SEES THAT ONE OF HIS KIDS NEEDS HELP!!!! 





In the Amplified Version, verse 27 says, “And He Who searches the hearts of men knows what is in the mind of the [Holy] Spirit [what His intent is], because the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will.”

In verse 27, the Amplified clearly says, “the Spirit intercedes and pleads [before God] in behalf of the saints according to and in harmony with God’s will.”

Could it be any clearer that we are praying for others who need our prayers???




When we take time to pray and talk with God, we should ALWAYS ALLOW THE SPIRIT OF GOD TO TAKE CONTROL!!!! 




That is why it is called PRAYING IN THE SPIRIT!!!! 




THE HOLY SPIRIT OR HOLY GHOST WILL LEAD AND GUIDE US!!!  HE WILL PRAY THROUGH US!!!  




That is why when we pray in tongues, we call it praying in THE HOLY GHOST because we are asking HIM to take over and pray through us and use us to pray for those who God knows need prayer!!!




Have you ever thought how some Child of GOD, maybe a missionary, in some foreign country feels???  How alone they might be??? 




Maybe there is someone in another place in the USA, or overseas that is so sick that they can’t seem to pray!!! 




Could it be that the devil is attacking a child who is NOT even old enough to pray and that child’s family does NOT even know God???




You see, when we are praying in the Spirit, we don’t know WHAT WE ARE PRAYING OR WHO WE ARE PRAYING FOR unless God shows us!!!! 




And the devil certainly does NOT know and he CAN NOT INTERVENE, AND HINDER OUR PRAYERS unless he can stop us from praying and spending time with GOD!!!!




This is why when we are praying that the enemy reminds us of everything we forgot to do today, or he brings that TV show that we wanted to watch to our minds. 




 
That is also why we must persist in our prayers and in praying in The Spirit or Holy Ghost!!!!  We cannot allow the devil to stop us!!!

And most important of ALL, we should pray until God gives us PEACE!!!

When we are praying in the Spirit, we should pray until we feel and inner PEACE that tells us that GOD IS FINISHED!!!  And that The Holy Ghost has accomplished everything that GOD GAVE HIM TO DO!!!!
