That’s HIS JOB!!!

What do I mean???
I mean that part of the Holy Spirit’s job is to convict folks and show them the truth.  It says so in THE WORD!!!

John 16:7-11 (NKJV)

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

In my last post, I talked about the difference in the meanings of
CONVICTION and CONDEMNATION.

As I explained, in the Greek
“to convict” means:  to bring to the light, to expose, correct by word, chide, admonish, reprove, to call to account, show one his fault, to chasten.

And as I told you, I also looked up the meaning of Condemnation and found that “to condemn” means:  to express an unfavorable or adverse judgment on or to pronounce to be guilty; to judge.

Now, I ask you which one would you rather be???  Would you rather be convicted of your sin???  Or would you rather be condemned for your sin???

To me, it the answer is simple!!!  I would certainly rather be convicted or shown my sin. And NOT condemned-pronounced guilty-for my sin!!!

But I want to make sure that we have a clear understanding of the meaning of “convict” as it is used in GOD’S WORD!!!

So again, let’s look at The WORD!!!

John 16:7-11 (NKJV)

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

Now, using the meaning for CONVICT from the Greek, what does THE WORD of God mean when it says that The Holy Spirit; The Helper will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment?

Well, let’s break it down!!!  If we use the meaning of convict in the Greek, here is what that same scripture says!!!

John 16:7-11

Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

And when He has come, He will convict-bring to the light, expose, correct by word, chide, admonish, reprove, call to account, show one his fault, chasten-the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:

of sin, because they do not believe in Me;

10 of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more;

11 of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.

In other words the Holy Spirit is going to teach the world by bringing to light and exposing the TRUTH about sin, righteousness, and judgment.

When THE HOLY SPIRIT shows us that we are doing wrong, HE is giving us the opportunity to change what we are doing and so that we will NOT be judged for our sin!!!

We have the right to choose Jesus and to choose righteousness and live right!!!  But because God gives us free choice, we also have the right to choose judgment!!!

We can choose to be condemned for our sins or we can choose to be forgiven for them!!!  THE CHOICE IS OURS!!!!

John 3:17 (NKJV) For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.

John 3:16-21 (NCV)

16
"God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son so that whoever believes in him may not be lost, but have eternal life.

17 God did not send his Son into the world to judge the world guilty, but to save the world through him.

18 People who believe in God's Son are not judged guilty. Those who do not believe have already been judged guilty, because they have not believed in God's one and only Son.

19 They are judged by this fact: The Light has come into the world, but they did not want light. They wanted darkness, because they were doing evil things.

20 All who do evil hate the light and will not come to the light, because it will show all the evil things they do.

21 But those who follow the true way come to the light, and it shows that the things they do were done through God."
