Have you ever had GOD show you something in HIS WORD?
Some little bit of wisdom or knowledge that you needed. Something that when HE revealed it, helped
you out or let you know that HE understood what you were going through!!!
Or maybe you asked GOD a question, one that you didn’t tell anyone else.
And the next thing you know, someone, maybe a friend or a co-worker, maybe even
someone you’ve never met, starts talking to you and they tell you the answer to
your question!!!!
It could be a TV preacher or just about anyone else for that matter, and
suddenly out of this person’s mouth comes the answer to the question you asked
GOD!!!
And they don’t even know what you and GOD have been discussing or that you have
even asked GOD a question!!!
Sometimes, these folks are NOT even talking about what you were asking GOD
about!!!
But when you hear it, you know that GOD is answering your question or revealing
HIS TRUTH to you!!! GOD reveals HIS WORD
to us because HE knows what we need and because HE loves us!!! GOD shows and tells us many things.
When GOD does this, we say that GOD has given us little pearls of wisdom or
knowledge!!! Or as I call them, little
nuggets!!!
The little pearls of wisdom that GOD shows me NOT ONLY bless me, but they
excite and amaze me!!!
I get so excited about the things that GOD shows me that I want to share them
with others!!!
However, over the years, I have found that NOT everyone can understand what GOD
is showing me!!! To some folks, these
things just do NOT make sense!!!
Some folks just cannot appreciate the things that GOD shows us!!! While still others just cannot grasp the
importance of the things that GOD is revealing to us!!!
This is why we have to be so careful and we need to ask GOD who we can share
our pearls with!!! We need to be careful
to share what GOD gives us with ONLY folks who understand their importance!!!
That is why, THE WORD tells us NOT to cast our pearls before the swine!!! Jesus
used pigs in this analogy or comparison to explain the importance of being
careful about what we tell others!!!
Matthew 7:6 (ESV)
“…do
not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to
attack you.
Let’s talk about swine or hogs,
so that we may get an understanding!!!
Let’s say you were feeding your friend’s pigs or hogs and you dropped something
while you were in the pig pen. It
wouldn’t matter, if that something was a strand of pearls or even
diamonds.
If you accidentally lost something valuable while you were in the pig pen, the
pigs would walk all over it, while they were eating. They might even eat it, because pigs will eat
anything!!!
The pigs wouldn’t care if what you lost was valuable or NOT!!! Even if the pigs didn’t eat your pearls, they
would walk all over them burying them in the mud or dirt!!! They would trample your pearls!!!
I have seen pigs with tusks, so before writing this I double checked and found
that all pigs have tusks. These tusks are canine teeth that some farmers remove
while the pigs are very young.
So, if you rushed in trying to gather up your pearls or diamonds because you
had dropped them and they were precious to you, those same pigs could end up
hurting you with their tusks. And because
some pigs grow very, very large, their sheer size could cause them to knock you
over and harm you.
That is why The Bible says that we are NOT to cast (or throw) our pearls before
the swine!!!
Matthew 7:6 (KJV)
…neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they
trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.
So, let’s be real!!!
If I am NOT saved and you come to me with some nugget or pearl of wisdom or
knowledge from GOD and I have no understanding of the Bible at all, then you
are wasting your breath in trying to tell me what GOD has showed you!!!
You are giving me something that I cannot appreciate and something that I have
no way of understanding!!! Because I
have no understanding of THE WORD, I have no respect for what you are telling
me!!!
When a person has no respect for what you are saying, and no understanding, you
have wasted your words!!!
In comparison, if you threw your pearls into the hog pen, the hogs would have
no respect for your pearls!!! And
because they have no value to the pigs, the pigs would trample them under their
feet!!!
If I am a wise person, I may simply think to myself, Why is this person telling
me this? It seems awfully important to
them, but it makes no sense to me!!!
Even, if someone is saved, you may tell them something that to you is wonderful
and amazing, but because they have NOT walked in your shoes, they may NOT
realize the importance of what GOD has shown you!!! To them, what you are saying may NOT seem
nearly as important as it does to you!!!
Unfortunately, many folks are NOT wise and many of them can even be
unkind!!! So, if you share something of
value with them, NOT ONLY do they NOT see its importance, but they may even
laugh and make fun of you for telling them!!!
They may say, that doesn’t even mean that or why do I care!!!
In these cases, that person has NOT ONLY trampled your pearls under their feet,
but they have also turned on you and they have used their words to rend you!!! They have torn and hurt you with their words!!!
So, remember to be careful with the things that GOD shows you and do NOT run
around in your excitement just sharing them with anyone who you think will
listen!!!
Ask GOD before you share your precious pearls!!!
